In the age of information-at-our-fingertips, we are more unprepared for safeguarding, protecting, and managing our children in today’s screenage than any who ventured parenting before us. Why? This course will enable participants to provide specific and meaningful guidance to parents who typically struggle with knowing how to effectively parent in this new frontier. Addressing, amongst others, the critical issues of cyberbullying, sexting and pornography, the course is full of practical tips, grounded in academic research. It provides practitioners with an overview of the existing research along with evidence-informed guidelines they can share with their clients.

The course was developed by Dr. Joanita Olivier (PhD) – a practicing psychologist with 15 years experience in the field. She is a graduate from the University of Stellenbosch. She has a keen interest in positive psychology and therapy with adults, adolescents and children. Her PhD research focused on developing resilience in families. She is a wife and a mother to two young children. She knows firsthand the challenges that parents face.
